The Site
The Site
The Hay Community Campus will be built off Forest Road, a site HADSCAL has owned and managed since 1994. It sits just a few minutes' walk from the centre of Hay-on-Wye, close to the surgery, existing housing and the town's southern edge. It's a site most people in Hay already know.
What's here now?
The site currently comprises two full-size football pitches, floodlighting and a stand. The main pitch is leased to Hay St Mary's Football Club on a 25-year lease, and that won't change. The club has its own planning permission for new changing facilities on its leased land. The remainder of the site is used informally by groups including the frisbee club and Play Radnor/Chwarae Maesyfed.
What's planned?
The rest of the site will be transformed into the community campus: a mix of new buildings, outdoor spaces and sports facilities, designed to sit comfortably within its surroundings and leave as much open space as possible. You can explore the full plans in the What We're Building section.
The wider context
The site sits within the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park and close to both the Hay-on-Wye Conservation Area and the River Wye Special Area of Conservation. We take that responsibility seriously. Every aspect of the campus, from drainage to lighting to materials, is being designed with the National Park setting in mind.
